Hao is deeply pas­sion­ate about build­ing pre­ci­sion mea­sure­ment tools for biol­o­gy. At Kan­vas, Hao is look­ing to lever­age his tech­no­log­i­cal back­ground to make a mean­ing­ful impact on human health. Before co-found­ing Kan­vas, he devel­oped exper­i­men­tal and com­pu­ta­tion­al approach­es to enable next-gen­er­a­tion micro­bial imag­ing. Pri­or to that, Hao stud­ied the the­o­ret­i­cal foun­da­tions of pre­ci­sion mea­sure­ment in quan­tum opto­me­chan­ics. Hao obtained his Ph.D. in physics from Cor­nell Uni­ver­si­ty. He holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and mechan­i­cal engi­neer­ing from Rochester Insti­tute of Tech­nol­o­gy. Hao is a recip­i­ent of the Leroy Apker Award from the Amer­i­can Phys­i­cal Society.
